Every once in a while Mother Nature gives us a present, and in this case, it’s the beautiful Volunteer™ Camellia. It is a remarkable, pin cushioned deep pink-red camellia, each petal with a distinctive frosted edge. In the beginning of the season it opens soft pink and white, before deepening through the season to dark pinky red and white, and ending up pure red at the end of flowering. The beautiful form of these flowers and the dark glossy green foliage make this Volunteer Camellia a stunner! Volunteer Camellia has grown into something so special that it was named to honour volunteers everywhere, and even selected to appear on a postage stamp in its native New Zealand.

A superb 21st century camellia release from a renowned New Zealand breeder, Volunteer™ grows flowers and performs exceptionally well. Masses of bold bicolour blooms standout against deep dark green foliage. Growth is vigorous but bushy and overall hardiness is excellent. Volunteer™ can handle full sun to part shade and will not disappoint.

Camellia Volunteer will grow into a tall shrub or a small tree. At maturity it reaches two metres with a spread of 1.5 metres.
